The 2008 results of the Law School Survey of Student Engagement were just released, and according to higher ed news sources, more than a third of law students report that they do not have enough opportunities to attempt "practice-based legal writing during their studies." Just 36 percent of students thought that their legal writing courses allowed them to “learn substantive law by providing an opportunity to work through concepts and ideas.” If you're interested in reviewing the entire survey results, you can find them on this LSSSE web page.
