Westlaw is unveiling its new platform, Westlaw Next, to law firm customers this Monday, February 1st, and it is rumored that Lexis won't be far behind with a new platform. I haven't seen the "new Westlaw" yet, but I will hopefully be attending a demo on February 11. Our trusty Westlaw representative tells me that law school customers won't see the new platform for at least another couple of months. In the meantime, lots of other law librarians have seen it and commented on how it works - here's a roundup of law librarian reviews and commentary:
Detailed description of Westlaw Next by law librarian Betsy McKenzie at Out of the Jungle;
Video commentary on Westlaw Next from Yale Law Library's Jason Eiseman;
ABA Journal's article on the new platforms at Lexis, Westlaw, and Bloomberg (includes screen shots of new search screens);
New York Times article on the changes.
As usual, once we've had a chance to experiment with the new platform, we'll post tips and reviews here.
