BAR/BRI Class Action: Tentative Settlement

If you took BAR/BRI's bar prep course between 1997 and 2006, you may be eligible for a little windfall, thanks to the recent announcement that West Publishing, the owner of BAR/BRI, and Kaplan, Inc., famous for its LSAT prep courses, will settle a class action antitrust suit for $49 million. The settlement should become final sometime this summer.  The complaint alleged that BAR/BRI and Kaplan secretly engaged in a bit of illegal market division -- Kaplan allegedly agreed that it wouldn't dip its toes into the bar prep course business, and BAR/BRI allegedly agreed that it would steer clear of the LSAT prep business.  If you want to learn more about how you can claim your piece of the prize and read selected documents from the litigation, visit the official BAR/BRI Class Action Litigation website.
