Nov. 8 California Ballot Proposition Extravaganza at IGS-UCB

If you are a Policy Wonk, politics groupie or plain old uninformed California voter then you should know about the Institute of Governmental Studies at UC Berkeley. Their motto is "Advancing Interdisciplinary Research in American Politics, Government & Public Policy." In addition to having great research and publications they have a fine library with many resources of interest to the legally inclined mind. Recently their library added a wonderful electronic guide to the up-coming special election. (Title: "Hot Topics! - Nov. 8, 2005 California Ballot Propositions.")

Included in the discussion of each proposition is:

  • Narrative overviews with historical background and legal aspects.
  • Arguments for and against.
  • Links to official voter information from the California Secretary of State.
  • Links to key websites, polls, editorials, and newspaper articles.

So do your homework and vote smart when November rolls around.
